About Ms. Hayes

Ms. Hayes and her Dad

Hello!

I spend a large part of the year working with your students and learning a lot about them. This is a chance for you to learn a little more about me.  I grew up in Marshall, Missouri, the home of Jim the Wonder Dog and chicken pot pies.

I grew up in the Marshall Public Schools, and have many great rural experiences as a result. I graduated from Marshall High School, Home of the Owls and I attended the University of Central Missouri, Home of the Mules, where I graduated in 2009. I am currently working on my Master's of Education in Instructional Media Technology at the University of Central Missouri. (Once a Mule, always a Mule!) My mom teaches kindergarten in Marshall and my sister, Cassie, is completing a degree in Secondary Education. I guess you could say I come from a family of teachers.

UCM offered me many experiences to work in the classroom and develop my skills as a teacher. In the Winter of 2009 I completed my student teaching, in 3rd grade, at the Center #58 School District. I was lucky enough to spend the spring of the following year working in a 1st and 2nd grade classroom. Where I developed my love of teaching. This is my second year at English Landing and I am excited to be working in such a caring and supportive environment.

I believe that learning is an experience. Education is all about finding what works best for you and learning in an environment that lets you reach your full potential. I hope to provide your children with a wide variety of experiences that help them get engaged, grow and develop into curious and thoughtful members of the world at large.

In my free time I love to watch the History Channel, experiment with family recipes and explore the many AMAZING attractions that are making Kansas City home for me!
